CanAdapt Countdown: Preparing for Launch and Growing Our Impact

We're excited to share progress on the CanAdapt initiative as we prepare for our upcoming presentation to **Canada's Climate Change Adaptation Platform Plenary Group**! With just two months until our platform launch, here's where we stand: - **Platform Development**: We're making great strides, incorporating recent insights to refine features and improve user experience. This work will ensure the platform is robust and ready to support our growing community at launch. - **Practitioner Networks**: We're gearing up to launch new networks focusing on Energy and Mining, with a third theme to be finalized soon. These networks will be key hubs for collaboration and knowledge sharing among Canadian professionals tackling climate adaptation. - **Building Internal Capacity**: Staff onboarding is underway for several critical roles, including a News Manager, Communications and Marketing Specialist, Facilitators, and an Events Planner. This will strengthen our ability to deliver timely updates, run engaging events, and support our practitioner networks effectively. - **Committee Engagement**: We're establishing and activating the National Advisory Committee and Practitioner Network Expert Committees. These groups will guide our efforts and help us maintain alignment with the priorities of the adaptation community. - **Consultations on Priority Areas**: To ensure we're addressing the most pressing challenges, we're continuing consultations with stakeholders to refine our focus and develop targeted solutions. As we approach launch day, we're working hard to bring CanAdapt to life as a transformative tool for climate adaptation professionals across Canada. Thank you for your continued support—stay tuned for more updates as we count down to January!

CanAdapt on all the Socials

At CanAdapt, we believe in meeting people where they are. Our approach to building community online centers on engaging people on their own terms, in the spaces they already frequent. We understand that the digital world can be overwhelming, and we’re committed to reducing—not adding to—the cognitive load of online life. By joining platforms where our community is already active, we create an experience that feels seamless and natural, enabling people to stay informed and connected without having to navigate yet another online hub. This way, our community can grow and thrive in a way that feels accessible and sustainable. With that being said, we're now live on **[LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/company/canadapt-network)**, **[BlueSky](https://bsky.app/profile/canadapt.bsky.social)**, **[Threads](https://www.threads.net/@can_adapt?hl=en)**, **[Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/can_adapt/)**, **[Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61567722154253)** and, sigh, **[X/Twitter](https://x.com/CanadaptSocial)** (we'll see for how long we can handle being there). But here’s the part we’re especially excited about: **[CanAdapt.social](https://canadapt.social)**, our new Mastodon server! We’re using it as a semi-private space to post updates, share news, and connect with our internal community. If you’re part of the CanAdapt Network, you’re invited to join us there. Set up an account at canadapt.social and stay in the loop.

Version 0.1 is launched

We are thrilled to announce that the first beta version of the CanAdapt Community of Practice platform is now live! Our invited users can now register and begin exploring the platform’s diverse functionalities. You can create projects, courses, funds, and organizations, all designed to foster collaboration and innovation in climate change adaptation and low-carbon resilience. We’re also excited to introduce our brand-new networking tool, which allows users to connect with like-minded professionals across Canada, share knowledge, and collaborate on impactful initiatives. Looking ahead, we have more exciting updates on the horizon! Over the next month, we will be rolling out the Resource Library, a centralized repository for the latest research, tools, and best practices in climate adaptation and resilience. Thank you for being a part of our community. Stay tuned for more updates!
